Powdered Activated Carbon For Wastewater Treatment
Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) for wastewater treatment is a fine-grade carbon material derived from high-carbon sources such as wood, lignite, and coal. Produced through direct activation, it features a high surface-to-volume ratio, making it highly efficient at adsorbing a wide range of contaminants, including organic pollutants, color-causing compounds, residual chemicals, and odors. Its small particle size allows rapid and effective purification, particularly in liquid-phase wastewater applications. PAC is extensively used in wastewater treatment for both continuous processes and targeted removal of specific contaminants, such as dissolved organics, phenols, and industrial effluents. It can be dosed as a dry powder or prepared as a slurry, depending on the treatment requirements and flow conditions. Beyond conventional wastewater applications, powdered activated carbon also enhances secondary and tertiary treatment systems by improving discharge quality and reducing chemical oxygen demand (COD). Western Carbon & Chemicals’ powdered activated carbon for wastewater treatment ensures consistent adsorption performance, reliability, and compliance with environmental standards.
